India Movie
today in human geo, we continued to watch the Indian movie some more. I really like this movie, its very interesting to see how other cultures act. I think Salim is very mean to his brother Jamal. I like Jamal cause he means well and is really smart. I think he is so intelligent because he was brought up all by himself and had to make a living all alone and I think he did a great job even though he made money not that fairly. overall I really like this movie and am excited to watch the rest of the movie tomorrow

Indian Culture: movie
Today we in human geo we are watching a movie on India and how their culture is. They have no space, they don't have any money, it is very filthy. They bath in these areas of water where it is not filtered or clean. Many dig through trash to find things that are worth keeping, its like a big trash dump. Many of the kids don't have parents, and there are many attacks based on religions. The school is packed with children in a very small space with one educator. People make money by stealing, they torture people to get answers.

Mexico National Anthem
Mexican National Anthem
Mexicans, at the cry of war
Make ready the steel and the bridle
And let the earth shake to the core
At the roar of the cannon
And let the earth shake to the core
At the roar of the cannon
Make ready the steel and the bridle
And let the earth shake to the core
At the roar of the cannon
And let the earth shake to the core
At the roar of the cannon
Gird, oh country, your head with an olive wreath
Given by the divine archangel of peace
Since your eternal destiny was written in heaven
by the finger of God
But should a foreign enemy
Profane your ground with their sole
Think, oh beloved country, that heaven
Has given you a soldier in every son
Given by the divine archangel of peace
Since your eternal destiny was written in heaven
by the finger of God
But should a foreign enemy
Profane your ground with their sole
Think, oh beloved country, that heaven
Has given you a soldier in every son
Dear homeland! Dear homeland!
Your children swear
To exhale breath in your cause
If the bugle in its belligerent (warlike) tone
Summons them to fight with courage
You will get the olive garlands!
They will have a memory of glory!
You will get a laurel of victory!
They will have a tomb of honor!
Your children swear
To exhale breath in your cause
If the bugle in its belligerent (warlike) tone
Summons them to fight with courage
You will get the olive garlands!
They will have a memory of glory!
You will get a laurel of victory!
They will have a tomb of honor!

In human Geo class today we got back our multiple choice bubbled answers back, then we started talking about our next unit. this unit is called Cultural Geography. cultural characteristics are lessons or traditions you were taught by your parents or other extended family members. this can be by language, and religion... by starting this unit we took a look at this map, this map had all different colors witch were labeled from how you call (Soda) either pop, soda, or coke. we figured out that most people from the South call it coke. I think I am going to like this unit a lot because I love learning about culture.

TEST
Today in Human Geo we took our Test on Population and Settlement. We started off by using the CIA world fact book and had questions that went along with that. I feel pretty confident with the test. The fill in the blanks were really easy. But overall I think I did pretty good.

Class Today
Today in Human Geo we reviewed for our test coming up on Friday. We really reviewed crude birth rate and crude death rate, these rates give us The Rate of Natural Increase which is the death subtracted by the birth rate. Net Migration Rate is the immigration subtracted by the emigration. I think I am going to do well on the test this Friday.

Today in human geo Mr. Shick gave us a free premium on Spotify. He did this so that we can use it for a push or pull factor in human geo. I think this is going to be really useful to use to relate to our class and discussions. Today we mostly all got our passwords to sign up to Spotify. Spotify is the pilot program we are using to get this 3 month premium.
Monday, October 6, 2014
Today we talked about the united states and comparing our country to others in different categories like population, land, religion and more. we compared all these on the CIA wordbook. I really like using this site cause it gives you all the information you need and more. we also had a group discussion on all the facts that we looked up to see if our country was the greatest country in the world.

Today in Human Geo we watched a video called Pyramid Population. This was about how fast our population grows at a rate of time. There was a study done that there 217 born every min. and 106 every min. I though that was very interesting. After we were done watching the video we had to answer discussion questions that went along with the video.
Wednesday, September 24, 2014
Today in Human Geo we got back our first test. We went over it as a class. I did okay on the test I now know I should definitely take better notes in class just in case we do have an open book test where we can use our notes. I thought there were too many questions on Ancient Greece. Throughout this unit I liked learning about Globalization and how many cultures compare to ours.

Population and Settlement
Today we started a new unit about population and settlement. There are 7 million people on the planet today. I learned that the US is ranked 50 in the world. If you think about it that's not very good. This is because of our diet and lack of exercise. People now are going home and sitting in front of the TV and not doing anything active. Peoples diet in the US is decreasing cause of all the processed food. The life expectancy for the US is 78.54 or something around there.

Globalization
Today in human geo we learned about globalization and how American companies have franchised to other country's like China and Japan etc.. This gives the American companies a chance to make more money on their product. Globalization is the connection of different parts of the world, the expansion of international cultural economic/political activities. One of the trading routes was called the Silk Road. Globalization is growing around the world everyday.

"Message to Garcia"
Today in human geo we talked about "The Message To Garcia". the main idea is you need to work hard to be trusted. Rowan was the guy that took the letter to Garcia without any complications or complaining. The president gave Rowan the letter, the President at the time was McKinley. The war that was going on at the time was the Spanish-American war and part of it was in Cuba.

Day 4
Today we talked about our blogs and how to work them correctly. We learned how to attach links to our blogs and saw that you can post a video as well. we also made a title for our blog.
JC
There are many things I can do to make me a better student through high school. One thing I can do is stay organized, if I stay organized I will know what I have and when I have a text or quizzes. You could keep a planner with you so that you can have your homework written instead of having it all typed. Another thing that could make me a better student is having time management, if you can manage your time you can get things done earlier. A third strategy that could help is asking questions, by asking questions you will understand what you are doing in class. Another one is participation, when you participate it shows that you understand what you are learning. My last thing would be doing your homework, doing your homework every night can get your grade up very easily.
second day
Today in human geo we made sure everyone got their blogs working and sent for the first half of class. We also saw the syllabus with everything we need to now for the course. We learned that there is NO EXTRA CREDIT. Mr. Schick’s room is in 121 the T.V studio. There are also penalties for late assignments, the deduction is ten percent per day that you do not turn in your work. We are also graded on participation. That was our second day of human geography.

I had a great first experience at John Carroll. I meet so many new friends that I will be with for the next four years, and great teachers as well. I love having off mods because I think it gives the students a break to just socialize and relax. My goal this year is to have good grades and be involved in the school activities. I am so excited to be apart of the John Carroll school and ready to have a great year.
